BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — Sanchez Hughley, owner of Superior Street Powersports in Boca Raton, has been arrested for not paying sales tax to the State of Florida.

According to claims made by a Senior Financial Investigator with the Florida Department of Revenue, Hughley failed to remit a total of $18,704 to the State of Florida for sales tax.

As a local business, Superior Street Powersports charges impose a state sales tax to its customers which are supposed to then be paid to the state. Superior Street Powersports is accused of collecting the sales tax but not paying it to the state. Investigators say that Hughley failed to remit sales tax for sales generated between September 2019 through May 2022.

Sanchez Hughley, who apparently owns several automotive businesses in the area, was charged with 212.15(2C) THEFT OF SALES TAX (>$20,000 < $100,000).

Hughley was booked and released from the Palm Beach County Jail on Monday, March 13th, 2023.
