BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — A Boca Raton man is in jail this morning following his arrest on 1/3/22 for domestic battery and resisting arrest.

Darliam Mena, 46, of SW 58th Street in the Sandalfoot Cove area of Boca Raton, was arrested late in the evening on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2022. According to court documents, Mena was arrested for a domestic related battery charge as well as multiple resisting arrest and battery on law enforcement charges.

According to the arrest report, PBSO deputies were dispatched to the residence at 58th Ave earlier in the evening in reference to a domestic disturbance. The report says that deputies were called back for a ‘domestic standby’ as two people who lived at the residence were collecting there things and leaving in an effort to avoid conflict from escalating.

Darliam was intoxicated and sitting on his bed ‘running his mouth’ to deputies. While on the premises, deputies observed blood on the bedroom wall. When asked about the blood on the wall, the victim, Lauren Mena-Alarcon, 30, admitted that prior to the first dispatch to the residence, Darliam punched her in the mouth. Lauren advised she didn’t mention the punch to the mouth earlier because she was afraid.

Deputies then went to place Darliam under arrest for allegedly punching Lauren in the mouth. It is reported that Darliam then “took a bladed stance, clenched his right fist and swung at Sgt. Hugh”. It is reported that after a struggle, Darliam was successfully restrained and placed in to handcuffs.

According to court records, Mena missed his first appearance which was scheduled at 10am on Monday, January 3rd, 2022, due to the fact that he was hospitalized at West Boca Medical Center. According to records, Mena is now in custody at the PBSO jail and is expected to attend his first appearance which is rescheduled for 10am today.

Mena is facing the following charges:

  • 1 count of 784.03(1A1) SIMPLE DOMESTIC BATTERY
  • 2 counts of 784.07(2B) BATTERY ON LEO WITH VIOLENCE
  • 2 counts of 843.01 RESISTING WITH VIOLENCE
