One Man Killed In Deadly Oakland Park Crash

OAKLAND PARK, FL (Boca Post) — Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that one man has died in a deadly crash that occurred in Oakland Park at about 3:45 AM on May 21st, 2022.

From Broward Sheriff’s Office:

Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that killed a man in Oakland Park Saturday morning.

Shortly after 3:46 a.m., on Saturday, May 21, Broward County Regional Communications received a call reporting a crash near the 200 block of East Oakland Park Boulevard in Oakland Park. BSO district deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to the scene and discovered three vehicles collided.
The on-scene investigation revealed Jahni Trott was driving a 2014 Nissan Maxima traveling westbound in the inside lane at a high rate of speed when he attempted to maneuver behind the driver of a 2017 Ford Fusion, who was in the center lane. The Nissan Maxima struck the Ford Fusion in a sideswipe type collision which caused the Nissan Maxima to begin to rotate clockwise. The driver of the Ford Fusion hit the brakes and the Nissan Maxima began to slide sideways passing in front of the Ford Fusion and across all of the westbound lanes of travel.
As the Nissan Maxima slid westbound, the driver of a 2012 Infiniti M37 attempted to take evasive action to avoid contact with the Nissan Maxima. The driver of the Infiniti lost control after he overcorrected, rotated clockwise, and struck a concrete utility pole. Paramedics pronounced the driver of the Infiniti deceased at the scene. No other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
