BOCA RATON, FL — The mobile mammography unit rolls into Boca Raton on Saturday. Screenings are covered by most insurance plans, and results come back within three business days.
The Kathryn Krickstein Pressel MammoVan, operated by Baptist Health South Florida, will offer breast cancer screenings from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, as part of The Boca Raton Tribune Senior Living & Active Aging Expo, according to event materials provided to Boca Post.
The MammoVan is an outreach program of Boca Raton Regional Hospital and the Christine E. Lynn Women's Health & Wellness Institute, both part of Baptist Health South Florida.
Screening mammograms are for women age 40 and older. Baptist Health says the annual screening is covered by most insurance plans. No-cost mammograms are available for qualifying uninsured patients, and the health system's department can be reached at (561) 955-2731 for information about that program.
Baptist Health says scheduled appointments are required, and can be booked here.
Patients are asked to bring a valid photo ID, an insurance card, and copies of any previous mammograms performed elsewhere, according to Baptist Health.
The unit uses 3D mammography technology and offers on-board breast cancer risk assessments and heart health information, according to the source materials. Patients whose screenings return abnormal results are connected with a Care Coach who helps coordinate follow-up appointments and prescriptions.
The MammoVan is named after Kathryn Krickstein Pressel, mother of professional golfer Morgan Pressel. According to Baptist Health, the unit is supported by contributions from Morgan Pressel, the Morgan Pressel Foundation and St. Andrews Country Club.
The expo's venue address and admission details were not included in the source materials provided.
