Today's Weather - Saturday, July 4, 2026

BOCA RATON, FL — Expect a hot, humid Independence Day with a Heat Advisory in effect from late morning through this evening. Highs reach around 90 to 91, but it will feel closer to 105 to 106 during the hottest part of the day. Showers and thunderstorms become more likely after about mid-afternoon, with lightning and heavy downpours the main concerns. Storms fade this evening, with a warm overnight low near 80

Today’s weather in Boca Raton is being driven by a familiar midsummer setup: strong summer high pressure nearby, very moist air in place, and sea breezes that help spark storms later in the day. The National Weather Service notes the mid-level ridge shifts south over the peninsula, while surface high pressure holds over central Florida.

For us, that translates to light winds early, then a more noticeable onshore breeze developing late morning into afternoon. With that onshore flow, deep tropical moisture continues to feed into South Florida.

The forecast discussion highlights precipitable water values climbing into the 2.1 to 2.3 inch range, which is very high for early July. In plain terms, the atmosphere has plenty of “fuel” for heavy rain once storms get going.

The timing looks typical: a mostly sunny start, then storms building after the sea breeze sets up and boundaries collide during the mid to late afternoon. The primary threats today are frequent lightning, heavy downpours, and a few isolated wind gusts that could briefly reach around 45 mph.

For the Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach coastal waters, winds stay generally south to southeast around 5 to 10 knots today, with seas around 2 feet early, then 1 foot or less nearshore before returning to around 2 feet overnight. Boating conditions look manageable outside of storms, but thunderstorms can quickly create higher winds, rougher seas, and dangerous lightning.

Expect the typical afternoon pattern where storms developing inland can push out toward the Atlantic late day. If you’re on the beach or in the water, keep a close watch after mid-afternoon and get off the water at the first sign of thunder.
