BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Memorial Day observances in Boca Raton and West Boca will include ceremonies honoring fallen members of the armed services on Monday, May 25, along with city office closures and sanitation schedule changes for Boca Raton residents.

In East Boca, the City of Boca Raton will hold its annual Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Boca Raton Cemetery, 451 SW 4th Avenue. The ceremony is held each year to honor service members who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The program is expected to include guest speakers, a flag-folding ceremony and a wreath presentation.

The city says the event will continue rain or shine. Parking will be available along the grass frontage in front of the cemetery, where attendees may parallel park, and along the internal roadway or path through the cemetery grounds. Boca Raton Police personnel will be on site to direct traffic and assist with parking.

City staff members will also be at the event wearing staff T-shirts to help answer questions.

A second Boca Raton ceremony is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday in front of City Hall, on the south side facing Palmetto Park Road. That event will be a plaque unveiling ceremony for Memorial Park. Parking will be available on the west side of City Hall, with limited seating provided.

West of Boca Raton, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10556 will present its annual Memorial Day Program at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Veteran’s Memorial Park, 9400 W. Palmetto Park Road. The park is located between Lyons Road and U.S. 441.

That program will honor veterans of the armed services and is expected to include a procession of colors, guest speakers and patriotic music. The event is sponsored by Palm Beach County, Grimes Events and Party Tents and Professional Concessions Inc. It is coordinated by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10556 and the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department/Special Events Section.

The holiday will also affect city services in Boca Raton.

City offices and services will be closed Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. The city says regular service will resume Tuesday, May 26.

There will be no sanitation service on Monday. Collection normally scheduled for Monday, May 25, will take place one day later, on Tuesday, May 26. Collection normally scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, will take place one day later, on Wednesday, May 27.

Residents who need to check their service area can use the city’s sanitation collection map. The city also says residents can sign up for sanitation text notifications through its website or by texting SanitationAlert, with no space, to 38276. Residents looking for recycling guidance can use the Recycle Coach app.

While city offices are closed, Boca Raton parks, beaches, beachfront parks and playgrounds will remain open with regular hours on Memorial Day.

Several recreation facilities will run modified schedules. The Boca Raton Community Center will be closed, while Sugar Sand Community Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Swim & Racquet Community Center, including the splash pad and playground, will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sugar Sand Park Carousel will operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Boca Raton Tennis Center will be open from 8 a.m. to noon. Patch Reef Park Paddle & Racquet Club will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Racquet Center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

The Swim Center Pool will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Meadows Park Pool will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Boca Raton Golf & Racquet Club will operate from 7 a.m. to sunset. Alan C. Alford Red Reef Family Golf Course will be open from 7:30 a.m. to sunset.

Both the Downtown Library and Spanish River Library will be closed Monday. The Cemetery Office will also be closed.

Other Memorial Day hours include Tim Huxhold Skate Park & Shuffleboard Courts from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sugar Sand Field House from noon to 5 p.m., Gumbo Limbo Nature Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Park Rangers Headquarters from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
