BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — All northbound lanes on Federal Highway at Palmetto Park Road were closed Tuesday afternoon because of a crash, according to a traffic advisory from Boca Raton Police.

The advisory, sent at 3:57 p.m. Tuesday, said: “All NB lanes on Federal at Palmetto are closed due to an accident. Please seek an alternate route.”

The closure affects a major north-south corridor in Boca Raton and a key intersection near the city’s central business areas, with drivers typically using Federal Highway and Palmetto Park Road to reach neighborhoods, shopping areas, and other east-west routes across Palm Beach County.

Boca Raton Police did not provide details on injuries, vehicles involved, or how long the closure is expected to last. The advisory did not specify whether any southbound lanes were affected.

Authority for traffic direction and roadway safety at the scene sits with Boca Raton Police, which issued the alert and is responsible for managing the immediate response and traffic flow in the area.

What happens next is tied to the on-scene investigation and roadway clearance. Drivers should expect delays approaching the intersection from the south on Federal Highway and plan for detours until northbound lanes reopen.

Residents and commuters should watch for updated traffic advisories from Boca Raton Police and allow extra time if traveling through or near Federal Highway and Palmetto Park Road during the afternoon and early evening commute. For now, the department is asking drivers to use an alternate route.
