HOLLYWOOD, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A fatal hit-and-run investigation is underway in Broward County after a pedestrian was struck and killed on Sheridan Street in Hollywood, and police are now asking the public to help locate a specific vehicle tied to the case.

The crash happened in the 2400 block of Sheridan Street, where Hollywood Police Department officers were dispatched just before 2 a.m. on April 11. Police said the call came in at about 1:50 a.m. When officers reached the scene, they found one victim suffering from injuries severe enough to require transport to a hospital. The victim later died.

The department has not released the name, age, or hometown of the person who was killed. No additional details about how the collision happened were included in the media release. Police also did not identify a driver, say whether anyone has been located, or describe any potential charges. What the release does make clear is that the case is being handled as a fatal hit-and-run and that investigators are looking for help from the community.

According to Hollywood police, the vehicle of interest is a red 2024 Honda Accord with Florida tag QCZU51. Investigators said the car should have heavy front-end damage and should also be missing the Honda emblem. The media release included photos of the vehicle to help the public recognize it.

Responsibility for the investigation sits with the Hollywood Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit, the division that handles fatal traffic cases for the agency. At this stage, police are relying in part on public tips to identify the vehicle’s whereabouts and move the case forward. That makes the condition of the car a key detail. A red late-model sedan with major front-end damage, especially one missing the Honda badge, would likely stand out to neighbors, repair shops, tow operators, parking attendants, and anyone else who may have seen it since the crash.

For residents, the immediate takeaway is simple. Police are not asking the public to solve the case on their own. They are asking people who may have seen the vehicle, know where it is, or have information related to the crash to contact investigators. Hollywood police directed anyone with information to call the department at 954-967-4567. Tips can also be provided to Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.

Sheridan Street is one of the city’s main east-west corridors, and a fatal crash there in the overnight hours can leave behind few witnesses unless someone nearby saw the impact, the vehicle afterward, or movement in and out of nearby homes, businesses, or lots. That is likely why police moved quickly to circulate a vehicle description and tag number. As of the department’s April 16 media release, investigators were still publicly seeking assistance in the case.

What happens next will depend on whether police are able to identify the driver and recover the car described in the release. For now, the known facts are limited but direct: a pedestrian was hit in Hollywood, the victim died after being taken to a hospital, and police believe a red 2024 Honda Accord with tag QCZU51 is central to the investigation.
