BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Mostly sunny skies will mix with passing showers today in Boca Raton, and a few thunderstorms are possible after late morning. Highs reach around 79 with an east wind near 14 mph and gusts over 20 mph. The beach remains hazardous with a high rip current risk along the Atlantic coast. Rain chances climb Monday and especially Tuesday through Thursday as a stalled front nearby helps keep rounds of showers and storms coming

South Florida is sitting in a steady onshore (east) wind pattern this morning, and that’s the main driver of today’s forecast in Boca Raton: breezy conditions at the coast, choppy surf, and periodic showers moving in from the Atlantic. The National Weather Service notes a pocket of deeper moisture lingering over the peninsula through the end of the weekend.

In plain terms, the atmosphere has enough humidity to support scattered showers, and when daytime heating kicks in, a few thunderstorms can pop up. The best focus for stronger storms today still looks to be inland and toward the Gulf side, but Boca can still catch quick-moving showers, especially late morning into the afternoon.

Looking ahead, the bigger story is the shift to a more unsettled week. A weather system passing well north of Florida helps flatten the ridge offshore and encourages a weak low to organize near and east of the Bahamas.

At the same time, a cold front approaches from the north and then slows down, with the forecast calling for it to stall near or over South Florida early to midweek. When a front stalls nearby, it can act like a “track” for repeated rounds of rain.

Boaters and beachgoers should plan around rougher Atlantic conditions today and a potentially much windier stretch midweek. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for the Atlantic waters near Boca Raton through 2 PM, with east winds 15–20 knots and seas 3–5 feet (occasionally 6).

Conditions ease some tonight into Monday, but winds and seas build again Tuesday night through Thursday, with periods of 20–30 knot winds and seas potentially reaching 7–11 feet offshore. The onshore flow also supports a continued high rip current risk at Atlantic beaches; swim near lifeguards and avoid venturing out on sandbars.
