BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton starts the day with a steady onshore breeze and a mostly sunny sky. A few fast-moving showers are possible late morning into early afternoon, but most neighborhoods stay dry. Highs top out near 78 with gusty east winds, and it stays mild tonight near 70 with more clouds around. The main safety concern remains the beach: rip currents are dangerous along the Atlantic shoreline
South Florida’s weather pattern today is being driven by a broad area of high pressure over the western Atlantic, with its influence extending back across our coast. The National Weather Service discussion notes a “tight pressure gradient,” which is a simple way of saying the difference in pressure across the region is keeping winds up.
For Boca Raton, that means a persistent east wind that can feel breezy at times, especially near the beach and along open east-west roads. Even with plenty of sunshine, the atmosphere above us is not very supportive of tall, long-lasting storms today.
Forecasters highlight a layer of dry air aloft and a “cap” that limits how high clouds can build. That’s why rain chances stay on the low end (around 20–30%).
Still, the warm Gulf Stream just offshore can help pop up low-topped showers that move quickly from east to west. If you catch one, it’s likely a brief, passing shower rather than an all-day washout.
Boaters and beachgoers should plan for rougher-than-normal Atlantic conditions. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for the coastal waters off Boca Raton, with east winds around 15–20 knots today and seas generally 4–6 feet (occasionally higher).
The Intracoastal can be choppy in exposed areas, and conditions may worsen again late week with stronger gusts. Along the beach, strong onshore flow continues to drive a high rip current risk through the work week—swim near lifeguards and avoid entering the surf if you’re not a strong swimmer.
