BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Breezy east winds will be a constant in Boca Raton today, keeping temperatures near the upper 70s and making it feel cooler along the coast. Expect a mix of sun and clouds with a 50% chance of fast-moving showers and a few thunderstorms, most likely in brief bursts. Rain totals should stay light for most neighborhoods, but a couple of spots could pick up a quick heavier downpour. Beach conditions remain dangerous with a high risk of rip currents, and boating conditions offshore stay rough under a Small Craft Advisory
South Florida is in a classic “windy east coast” setup this morning, and Boca Raton will feel it all day. The National Weather Service notes a weak front has slipped south of the area and is now stretched near the Keys.
Even though that boundary is fading, it’s still helping tighten the pressure difference between it and strong high pressure over the western Atlantic. That pressure difference is what’s driving the steady, gusty east wind.
For Boca, that onshore wind does two important things. First, it keeps highs in the upper 70s near the beach, cooler than inland areas.
Second, it helps create extra lift right along the coastline where winds slow down as they run into land. That “pile-up” of air can spark passing showers that move quickly from east to west.
Boaters and beachgoers should plan for hazardous Atlantic conditions. East winds around 20–25 knots today will keep seas rough offshore, generally 6–9 feet with occasional higher sets early, slowly easing later today and into midweek.
The Intracoastal can be rough or choppy in exposed areas, especially near inlets. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for the local Atlantic waters, and conditions can worsen quickly in and near any thunderstorms.
Along the coast, the persistent onshore flow supports dangerous surf and a high rip current risk at area beaches, including Boca Raton.
