BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton Police are warning drivers to avoid the intersection of NE Spanish Trail and East Boca Raton Road after a gas leak prompted a full closure.

In a non-emergency traffic advisory sent at 9:48 a.m. Tuesday, Boca Raton Police said the intersection was closed in all directions due to the leak. Police told motorists to seek an alternate route.

The advisory did not include details on what caused the leak, how long the closure is expected to last, or what crews are on scene. Boca Raton Police did not provide a timeline for reopening in the alert.

For Boca Raton and the surrounding Palm Beach County area, the immediate impact is traffic. Drivers who normally use NE Spanish Trail or East Boca Raton Road should plan for detours and delays near the intersection and give themselves extra time.

Boca Raton Police are the agency issuing the traffic advisory and directing drivers away from the area. Residents and commuters should watch for updates from Boca Raton Police as conditions change and the intersection remains closed.

The department’s message was straightforward: the intersection is shut down in all directions because of a gas leak, and drivers should take another route.
