BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — The City of Boca Raton is marking Florida Bicycle Month with a free bike tune-up event Tuesday at Spanish River Library, giving residents a chance to get their bicycles checked and adjusted before heading out for spring rides around the city.

The event is scheduled for March 17 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Spanish River Library, 1501 NW Spanish River Blvd. The service is first come, first served. The city is limiting the event to one bike per person and two bikes per family.

Professional mechanics from Richwagen’s Bike & Sport are expected to handle the tune-ups. The city says the free service is intended to help make sure bikes are safe and ready for the road. Tune-ups may include basic adjustments such as brake work and tire inflation during the event window.

The library stop is one of several Boca Raton events tied to Florida Bicycle Month, a statewide observance held in March that encourages residents to get outdoors and use bicycles for recreation and transportation. In Boca Raton, the month is also being used to highlight local bicycle infrastructure, safety information, and organized community rides.

For residents who want to plan future rides, the City of Boca Raton has also published a bike map brochure that includes Florida bicycling laws, safety information, and a map of bicycle facilities across the city. Copies are available through the city, including at City Hall and community centers.

The March 17 tune-up event follows an earlier free tune-up stop held March 12 at the Boca Raton Tri-Rail station on Yamato Road. Another Bicycle Month event is still ahead: a Joint Society Bike Ride scheduled for Saturday, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Boca Raton Tri-Rail Station, 680 Yamato Road.

That ride will take participants along the El Rio Trail, a route the city says runs about 4.7 miles from Congress Avenue to Glades Road. Organizers describe it as a community ride connected to Florida Bicycle Month and aimed at encouraging active transportation while giving riders a chance to explore the area around the Yamato Scrub Natural Area.

The city says registration for the March 21 ride is limited to 30 spaces. Tickets are listed at $15 without a bike and $30 with a bike. Boca Raton residents may be eligible for a refund if they show a valid ID to the event organizer at the ride. Participants are asked to bring a bike helmet, water bottle, closed-toe shoes, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Boca Raton is also promoting e-bike safety during Bicycle Month. The city says its Ebike Pro Course is designed for teens and pre-driving students and focuses on safe and responsible e-biking, with lessons intended to carry over into safer driving habits later on.

For families looking for a spring break activity, Tuesday’s stop at Spanish River Library offers a simple entry point. No registration was listed for the tune-up event, but availability is tied to the event hours and the number of people in line. Residents who want service should expect a first-come, first-served setup and plan accordingly.
