BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Expect a warm, on-and-off storm day in Boca Raton, with showers and thunderstorms most likely from late morning through the afternoon and early evening. Some storms can drop heavy rain in a short time, so watch for brief street flooding and poor visibility during downpours. Highs reach the low 80s with a light wind turning southeast at 5 to 10 mph. If you’re heading to the beach, Palm Beach County has a moderate rip current risk today, and storms can quickly make the water unsafe

South Florida is stuck in a wet, unsettled setup this weekend, and Boca Raton is right in the middle of it. The National Weather Service says a front is essentially parked over the region, acting like a focus line for repeated showers and thunderstorms.

At the same time, winds are coming in from the south to southeast, which keeps feeding warm, humid air into the area. That extra moisture matters because it helps storms grow taller and rain harder.

Forecasters note the atmosphere is holding more moisture than is typical for mid-March, and that supports downpours that can overwhelm drainage in spots. The main impact today looks to be localized flooding from heavy rain, along with frequent lightning and brief gusty winds.

Storms may start popping near the east coast late morning, with the most active window favored mid to late afternoon into early evening. Sunday looks busier.

For the Boca Raton and Deerfield Beach coastal waters, southeast winds run about 5–10 knots today with seas 3–5 feet (occasionally near 6 feet), along with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Winds increase tonight and Sunday, and by Monday southerly winds may reach 20–25 knots with seas 4–6 feet, creating rougher boating conditions and choppier intracoastal waters.

Behind the early-week front, winds turn northwest to northeast and seas build further Tuesday into Wednesday, potentially reaching 5–8 feet or higher offshore. Storms can produce sudden higher winds and seas.

Palm Beach County beaches have a moderate rip current risk today, with the risk potentially increasing Sunday as winds strengthen.
