DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Investigation Unit is probing a vehicle‑motorcycle collision that killed an adult man and a teenage girl, in Deerfield Beach.

7:22 p.m. On Saturday Oct. 18 a fatal crash unfolded near the 1200 block of South Powerline Road. Detectives reported that 65‑year‑old Douglas Hall was driving a 2025 Nissan Rogue southbound, on South Powerline Road when he tried to execute a U‑turn to head north on Powerline Road. Investigators say that as Hall tried to pull off a U‑turn the rear passenger side of his car was clipped by Simon Dias Do Santos, who was cruising northbound on a 2002 Honda CB900F motorcycle.

BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene. Santos, a riding with him on the motorcycle and the two occupants of the Rogue were all taken to an area hospital for treatment. Santos, who suffered life‑threatening injuries was pronounced dead at 7:53 p.m. That evening. The juvenile passenger, initially listed in condition later succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, Oct. 25. The two passengers, from the Rogue escaped with injuries classified as non‑life‑threatening.

Investigators note that the northbound witnesses on the scene at the time of the crash told them Santos was hurtling along at a velocity, before the impact. Those same observers also pointed out that Hall executed his U‑turn from a spot they didn’t regard as posing any threat.

In the detectives view the motorcyclists excessive speed may have contributed to the crash. They see no sign of driver impairment. The investigation remains ongoing.
