UPDATE:
In response to ongoing media inquiries regarding the investigation into the deaths of two individuals found in the landing gear area of a JetBlue aircraft on Jan. 6 at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office recently traveled to the Dominican Republic to meet with investigators from that country and possible family members of the deceased. At this time, detectives are continuing to gather evidence and information and work closely with the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office to positively identify the individuals. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, Broward Sheriff’s Office Airport District deputies responded to a call regarding two individuals found in the landing gear area of a JetBlue aircraft at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue also responded. On scene, paramedics pronounced both individuals deceased. BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to investigate the circumstances of the incident, and the investigation is ongoing. The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform autopsies to determine the causes of death of both individuals.
