There was an incident on Interstate 95 last Sunday night where a man lost his life in a shooting incident near Oakland Park Boulevard around 6 p.m. as reported by detectives and emergency services in Broward County and Fort Lauderdale area. Local law enforcement officers along, with Florida Highway Patrol troopers and emergency responders swiftly responded to the scene where they found an injured adult male who sadly did not survive his injuries despite efforts to save him. The victim was rushed to Broward Health Medical Center by paramedics. Was later pronounced dead by medical staff. At the request of the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) investigators from the Broward Sheriffs Office (BSO) Homicide Unit were called in to look into the situation involving the shooting incident. Upon examination by investigators it was found that there was a physical altercation at a residence in Pompano Beach involving Xavier Williams and a woman before the shooting incident, on Interstate 95 took place. The woman later left with another man where on I 95 he shot Williams with a firearm. The man who is an adult stayed at the location. Worked together with the investigators during questioning where he stated self defense as his reason for actions taken.The Broward County State Attorney’s Office will review the case at the end of the inquiry to decide on criminal charges.The investigation is still, in progress.
