The Broward Sheriffs Office Traffic Homicide investigators are currently looking for the driver involved in a collision that occurred Saturday morning in Pompano Beach city area. At 5;55 a.m. this past Saturday (January 4th) the Broward County Regional Communications center received a notification regarding an incident where a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle along the 2700 block of West Atlantic Boulevard. BSO deputies along with the Pompano Beach Fire Rescue team quickly responded to the scene of the incident. Upon arrival at the scene of the accident zone where emergency services were already present and active in their roles of rescue and immediate assistance, to those involved in this tragic event; it was discovered that an adult female victim was found injured. The victim was promptly rushed to Broward Health North for treatment but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. Detectives stated that their initial findings showed that the pedestrian was crossing West Atlantic Boulevard in a direction when she was hit by a car heading eastbound. Witnesses informed the detectives that following the accident a colored sedan stopped at the scene. A man who was driving the sedan got out. Saw the pedestrian on the road. He then returned to his car. Drove away towards Powerline Road, from West Atlantic Boulevard in a northerly direction after acknowledging the situation.
