DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — A tragic incident occurred in Deerfield Beach last month when a motorcyclist was hit by a driver who fled the scene. Sadly, Clifford Jackson, 57,  has passed away due to the injuries sustained in the accident. The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is actively investigating to find the responsible driver.

Reports indicate that on Monday, March 11, at approximately 10;23 p.m., there was a hit and run collision involving a car and a motorcycle at the junction of Southwest 10th Street and South Dixie Highway in Deerfield Beach. Both BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue promptly responded to the scene.

Initial findings suggest that a silver Hyundai Elantra sedan from 2016 2019 was traveling east on Southwest 10th Street while Clifford Jackson, riding a 2006 Honda CBR 1000 motorcycle, was heading west on the same street. As the Hyundai driver attempted to make a left turn onto South Dixie Highway, they turned directly into the path of Jackson’s motorcycle.

The motorcycle collided with the car’s passenger side in a sideswipe impact, causing Jackson to be thrown off his bike. The driver of the car then drove away towards North Dixie Highway without stopping. Medical responders rushed Jackson to Broward Health North Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, on March 23, doctors confirmed his passing due to his injuries.
