LANTANA, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A man was struck by a car and killed near Congress and Lantana Road in Lantana on Saturday evening.

According to PBSO, the man, identified as a Mexican citizen, died after being struck by a car near Lantana Road and Congress Ave. at 8:30 PM on Saturday, June 24th, 2023.

Deputies say the man was identified as a Mexican citizen with no local address. According to deputies, a Dodge Charger was traveling southbound on S. Congress Ave., approaching the intersection of Lantana Road.

At the same time, the Mexican man was attempting to cross S. Congress Ave., just south of the intersection of Lantana Rd., from east to west, mid-block.

The car continued southbound through the intersection of Lantana Road within the inside lane of travel.

As the car continued southbound, the man entered the inside lane of travel which violated the car’s right of way, and thus the collision ensued.

During the collision, the front right corner of the car impacted the right side of the man, vaulting him into the air before coming to rest on the surface of the roadway.

Post impact, the driver of the car immediately stopped within the inside lane of travel facing south.

For injuries received during a collision, the man was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
