OAKLAND PARK, FL — A juvenile male was observed walking onto the train tracks where he stopped before being hit by a Tri-Rail train.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, detectives are investigating the fatal accident involving a tri-rail train and a juvenile male.
BSO says that just after 6 AM on Sunday, May 28th, 2023, deputies and first responders responded to a training incident involving a pedestrian near West Commercial Boulevard and I-95 in Oakland Park. There, deputies found a juvenile male deceased on the scene.
The Tri-Rail train engineer told investigators that the juvenile male was seen walking towards the tracks where he stopped just before being struck by the train.
While the incident appears to be a suicide, investigators are investigating the circumstances around the death of the boy.
