BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Boca Raton is waking up to a true cold snap by South Florida standards, the kind that makes the first walk outside feel sharper than expected and has people second-guessing the shorts and hoodie combo.
Tuesday’s forecast calls for a sunny day with a high near 64 degrees near the Boca Raton Airport area, but the bigger story early is the bite in the air. Wind chill values are expected to dip as low as 35 early this morning, with a northwest wind running 8 to 14 mph before shifting to the northeast later in the day. Gusts could reach around 20 mph, enough to keep it feeling brisk along the I-95 corridor and on exposed stretches near Glades Road and the Intracoastal.
Skies stay clear and the air stays dry. That matters, because the National Weather Service discussion continues to highlight an unusually dry airmass across South Florida, with enhanced fire weather conditions expected this afternoon as humidity drops into the 20 to 30 percent range in many spots. The only exception noted is the immediate east coast, where onshore flow later today may keep humidity closer to 30 to 35 percent.
There is also a visibility concern early this morning tied to smoke. The forecast discussion warns dense smoke from the National Wildfire could create dangerous driving conditions through daybreak in areas south of the fire, where reduced visibility could develop.
At the coast, beach conditions are hazardous. A High Rip Current Risk is posted for Coastal Palm Beach County, and the NWS specifically warns that rip currents can sweep even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water. If you are heading toward Boca beaches today, this is a day to take the warning seriously and make conservative choices.
On the water, marine conditions remain rough for small craft. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect through 4 PM for the coastal waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach and adjacent offshore waters, with northwest winds and elevated seas gradually easing later today. The marine forecast calls for seas 5 to 8 feet, occasionally up to 10 feet, with a moderate chop on the Intracoastal. Conditions improve tonight, but seas are still forecast at 4 to 6 feet, occasionally up to 8 feet.
Tonight stays quiet and clear on land. Forecast calls for mostly clear skies with a low around 52. Winds ease, with a northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm during the evening.
