The weather itself stays quiet and bright through the day, with sunshine and a high near 81, and a light southeast breeze running about 6 to 11 mph. It is the kind of February day that pulls people toward the shoreline and the Intracoastal, which is exactly why the rip current message matters.
Along the Boca beaches and the rest of the Palm Beach County coastline, the National Weather Service says a high rip current risk remains in effect through Friday evening. The risk is tied to a lingering swell, and the warning is blunt: dangerous rip currents can sweep even experienced swimmers away from shore into deeper water. If you are heading east toward the sand after school drop off or later this afternoon, treat this like a real hazard, not background noise.
Away from the water, the day should feel warm and stable along the I 95 corridor and across Boca’s neighborhoods from Glades Road north and south, with only a gentle breeze most of the day. No rain is expected today, and the broader South Florida pattern stays dry and very warm heading into the weekend.
Late tonight, skies turn partly cloudy and temperatures ease down to around 67 in Boca Raton. Winds stay light out of the southeast at 5 to 10 mph, then trend lighter and turn more southerly after midnight.
One more thing to flag for anyone commuting west or driving across interior areas overnight or early Saturday: the forecast discussion notes areas of fog developing across the interior and Southwest Florida early this morning, then again late tonight into early Saturday morning, with some spots potentially turning dense and dropping visibility to a quarter mile or less. That is not written specifically for Boca Raton proper, but if your morning takes you inland toward the edges of the metro area, or if you are making an early run on darker roads, it is worth having on your radar.
Marine conditions nearshore stay manageable today, but they begin to change in a bigger way late Sunday into early next week as a cold front moves through and winds and seas build behind it.

High rip current risk remains in effect through Friday evening for Coastal Palm Beach County. The advisory warns of dangerous rip currents and notes impacts can include even strong swimmers being pulled away from shore into deeper water. The recommended guidance is to swim near a lifeguard, and if caught in a rip current to relax and float, avoid fighting the current, and move parallel to shore if able. The statement remains active through this evening.

Sunday: The pattern starts to shift. Expect a high near 85 with west winds 6 to 13 mph and gusts up to 20 mph. Rain chances rise later in the day, with a 50 percent chance of showers after 1 pm. The forecast discussion suggests the best chance for showers comes as a cold front approaches Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening, with thunderstorm chances extremely limited and mainly confined to the waters if they develop at all.
Sunday Night: Cooler air starts pushing in behind the front. There is a 20 percent chance of showers before 1 am, then partly cloudy with a low around 51. It turns windy with north winds 15 to 22 mph and gusts as high as 29 mph.
Monday: A noticeably different feel. Sunny, but much cooler, with a high near 65. Winds stay up, with northwest winds 15 to 22 mph and gusts up to 28 mph. Marine conditions are expected to become hazardous around this period as seas and winds increase behind the front.
Monday Night: Clear and colder with a low near 44. Breezy northwest winds 14 to 16 mph, gusting to about 23 mph.
Tuesday: Sunny with a high near 64. Northwest winds 11 to 15 mph with gusts up to 21 mph. Tuesday night turns mostly clear with a milder low around 52.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 71, then partly cloudy Wednesday night with a low near 62. Moderation continues as high pressure shifts and winds begin to veer more easterly.
Thursday: Partly sunny with a high near 77, continuing the warming trend later in the week.
