LAKE WORTH BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A 63-year-old riding a bike was struck by a bus and killed in Lake Worth Beach on Thursday evening.

The accident happened near the I-95 overpass at Lake Worth Road in Lake Worth Beach, just before 7PM on Thursday, October 12th, 2023.

According to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, a bus was heading towards the west on Lake Worth Road, staying in the right lane. Meanwhile, there was a 63-year-old man riding his bicycle towards the east, using the shoulder on the north side of Lake Worth Road. Unexpectedly, the rear passenger side maintenance hatch collided with the bicyclist. This collision caused the bicyclist to be thrown off his bicycle and land on the pavement. The bicyclist came to a stop on the shoulder area of Lake Worth Road. Following this incident, the bus driver brought the bus to a halt in the outer lane of traffic.
