BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — Subtropical Storm Nicole is heading right for South Florida as it transforms into a Tropical Storm and possibly even a Category 1 Hurricane.

The National Weather tells Boca Post that as Nicole strengthens it is expected to shift right toward southeast Florida putting our area in the middle of the cone.

NHC is advising maximum sustained winds are currently 45 MPH with higher gusts. 4-6 foot storm surge is possible with this storm. Nicole is expected to produce 3-5 inches of rain, with some areas experiencing up to 7 inches. The rain is expected to start on Wednesday and remain through Friday.

While Nicole is expected to strengthen, possibly into a hurricane, it is also expected to weaken as it makes landfall. This does not mean you should not prepare for a major event in Florida. Even with a tropical storm, we can and will experience storm surges, flash flooding, and power loss.
