PEMBROKE PINES, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — Police in Pembroke Pines arrested a 34-year-old man early Monday morning after he was spotted burglarizing a vehicle near a residential area just north of Pines Boulevard.

According to police, midnight shift officers were alerted to suspicious activity near Northwest 91st Avenue, where a man was seen breaking into a vehicle. The suspect fled the area before officers arrived.

Officers began searching the surrounding neighborhood and nearby properties. A short time later, they located the suspect hiding in the backyard of a nearby home. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police identified the suspect as Paul Johnson, 34.

Jail records show Johnson was arrested on multiple charges, including burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, burglary of an occupied structure, possession of burglary tools, dealing in stolen property, and loitering or prowling.

All charges are currently listed as pending trial. As of Monday afternoon, no bond amount had been posted.

The incident occurred in a residential area where neighbors were sleeping at the time. Police credited residents who reported suspicious activity and said those calls helped officers quickly narrow the search area.

Police encouraged residents to continue reporting suspicious behavior, particularly overnight when vehicle burglaries are more common. Non-emergency suspicious activity can be reported to 954-764-HELP, while emergencies should be reported by calling 911.

No injuries were reported, and investigators said no additional suspects are believed to be involved.

An arrest does not mean a conviction. The case will move through the Broward County court system.
