TAMARAC, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A late-night pursuit in Tamarac has resulted in a felony murder charge after a crash left one man dead and a Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy injured.

The suspect, identified by the Broward Sheriff's Office as 30-year-old Sean Paul Holder, faces multiple charges stemming from the incident, including aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, grand theft auto, driving while license suspended, and murder by another while engaged in a specified felony. He is also charged with petit theft related to a previous active warrant.

The deceased has been identified as Ronald Wilson.

The deputy-involved crash near West Prospect Road and Northwest 31st happened at approximately 11:57 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, as first reported by Boca Post.

Detectives say the sequence of events began earlier that night when the Margate Police Department issued a Be On The Lookout alert for a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was later spotted in Tamarac.

BSO officials confirmed deputies began pursuing the suspect’s vehicle following an aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, which authorities describe as a forcible felony.

At some point during the pursuit, a crash occurred involving a BSO patrol vehicle and a civilian vehicle. A second crash involving the suspect’s vehicle occurred a short time later. Holder was taken into custody after the collisions.

Deputy Brian Quintal, who was involved in the crash, is currently recovering from his injuries, according to BSO. The civilian driver was transported to an area hospital but was later pronounced deceased. A passenger in the civilian vehicle and the suspect were also taken to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

The case is now being investigated by multiple units within BSO. The agency’s Homicide, Violent Crimes and Internal Affairs units are actively examining the circumstances surrounding the incident. Detectives with BSO’s Traffic Homicide Unit were also notified in the initial stages of the investigation.

BSO confirmed its Internal Affairs Unit has opened an administrative investigation into the incident, which is standard procedure in deputy-involved crashes.

Following completion of the administrative review, the case will be forwarded to BSO’s Pursuit Review Board. The board reviews all vehicle pursuits conducted by the agency to determine whether policies were followed and to assess any procedural issues.

Authorities have not released additional details about the moments leading up to the collisions or the precise sequence of events during the pursuit.

The investigation remains ongoing.
