FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A Fort Lauderdale man who had been reported missing over the weekend was found dead Sunday afternoon after deputies located his vehicle submerged in a neighborhood waterway, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Missing Persons Unit confirmed that 35-year-old Jonathan Scibica was found deceased inside his vehicle after it was recovered from a canal near the 900 block of Northeast 63rd Court in Fort Lauderdale.

At approximately 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, the Broward Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit located Scibica’s gray 2024 Honda Ridgeline in the water during an aerial search. At the time he was reported missing, Scibica was described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing approximately 170 pounds, with black hair dyed blonde and brown eyes. Detectives said he had multiple tattoos on both arms and was last seen wearing the same clothing shown in a photo released by the sheriff’s office.
