GREENACRES, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A 14-year-old boy has died following a nighttime crash in Greenacres, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

The collision happened around 10:25 p.m. on February 6 along the 500 block of Jackson Avenue in an area where there were no overhead street lights, according to investigators. Investigators say a 2008 Ford E350 was traveling southbound on Jackson Avenue when the crash occurred.

According to PBSO, the driver, identified as 50-year-old Marie Lida Pierre Manasse of Greenacres, was operating the van southbound at the time. Deputies say the teen, Juan Monge of Lake Worth, had exited the passenger side of a northbound-facing Uber vehicle and was crossing the roadway from east to west behind the stopped vehicle.

Investigators state that as Monge emerged into the southbound travel lanes, the driver of the Ford was unable to avoid a collision. The front of the van struck the teen, projecting him southbound onto the western side of the roadway. The vehicle was brought to a controlled stop after impact.

Monge sustained what deputies described as a significant head injury and was transported for medical treatment. He was listed in critical condition following the crash.

On February 9, Monge was pronounced deceased at Delray Medical Center due to injuries sustained in the collision.

PBSO reported that the driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. No alcohol or drug involvement was indicated in the report.
