UPDATE: Fort Lauderdale Police Name Officers, Gunman in Valentine’s Day Officer-Involved Shooting
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Fort Lauderdale Police shot and killed an armed adult man Saturday, Feb. 14, after officers responded to a disturbance call in a residential area off Chateau Park Drive.
Police said officers were dispatched at about 12:30 p.m. to the 900 block of Chateau Park Drive. While officers were on scene addressing the disturbance, an armed adult male approached them. Police said the man was not involved in the original disturbance call.
During what police described as an encounter with officers, the suspect fired a weapon. Three Fort Lauderdale Police officers then discharged their department-issued firearms, striking the suspect, according to the department’s initial review.
Officers immediately began life-saving measures, police said, and continued those efforts until Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived. The suspect was transported to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
