BROWARD COUNTY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives are asking the public to help identify and locate a person they say is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in unincorporated Central Broward, releasing a photo as the investigation continues.

The case centers on the death of Nathaniel Forrest, 35, who investigators say was shot on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, near the 900 block of Northwest 24th Avenue. Deputies were dispatched to the area at about 9:42 p.m. after a ShotSpotter alert, a gunfire detection notification used to flag possible shooting activity.

When deputies arrived, investigators said they found Forrest suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Deputies began life-saving measures on scene while medical help responded. Forrest was transported by Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

No suspect has been publicly identified. Detectives described the person in the released photo as an individual wanted in connection with the murder and said they are seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating the subject.

For readers in Palm Beach County, the request is straightforward: this is one of the region’s standard investigative steps when detectives believe a member of the public may recognize a face, a location, a pattern of movement, or a nickname tied to a person they have not yet been able to identify. Broward Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency for homicides in unincorporated Broward County, and its Homicide Unit typically coordinates the case work, evidence review, witness interviews, and follow-up tips that can move an investigation toward an arrest.

Broward Crime Stoppers Is Offering A Reward Of Up To $5,000 For Information That Leads To An Arrest In The Jan. 19, 2026 Fatal Shooting Of Nathaniel Forrest In Unincorporated Central Broward.

Crime Stoppers has also been brought into the case, with a reward of up to $5,000 being offered for information that leads to an arrest. Tipsters do not have to give their name to be eligible for the reward if the information results in an arrest, and the agency is emphasizing multiple routes for the public to share information.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the subject’s identity or location to contact Broward Sheriff’s Office directly or submit a tip through the SaferWatch App. People who want to remain anonymous are being directed to Broward Crime Stoppers by phone or online, with an option to dial **TIPS from any cellphone in the United States.

Residents who believe they recognize the person in the released photo are being urged to use those official channels rather than posting accusations online. In cases like this, investigators typically need actionable details such as a name, where the person may be staying, vehicles they may be using, or recent places they’ve been seen. Even small pieces of information can help detectives narrow down identities, confirm leads, and locate witnesses or additional evidence tied to the case timeline.

The investigation remains open. Detectives have not released additional details about what led up to the shooting, whether the victim knew the person sought, or what evidence has been collected so far, but the public request signals the agency believes someone outside law enforcement may hold information that can move the case forward.

As this investigation develops, additional police activity updates are tracked on Boca Post’s public safety page.
