Palm Beach County School Mask Mandates Remain In Affect.. For Now

BOCA RATON, FL (Boca Post) — The School District Of Palm Beach County Superintendent Mike Burke has announced a 1 week extension of the mask mandate in affect for all employees, vendors, and visitors.

The district announcing today that after consulting with local health officials they have re-evaluated the policy and decided to extend it by one week. The next re-evaluation will take place on January 21st, 2022.

While the district cannot legally enforce mask mandates on students, they do strongly encourage masking of the students. In a statement from the district, they tell us that this decision is based on the current COVID-19 numbers in the area. The current positivity rate in Palm Beach County exceeds 30%.

The district tells us that school nurses will test students who have consent forms on file.

This is the most recent update since the mask mandate has been reinstated as previously reported by Boca Post.
