LANTANA, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2026) — A serious crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV was reported in Lantana at Hypoluxo Road and Sea Pines Way on April 9, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say the Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling southbound on Sea Pines Way and approaching the stop sign at Hypoluxo Road. A Volkswagen Tiguan was traveling westbound in the inside lane of Hypoluxo Road as it approached Sea Pines Way. PBSO says the motorcycle failed to stop at the stop sign and made a right turn onto Hypoluxo Road into the path of the Tiguan.

According to investigators, the front of the motorcycle struck the right front wheel and fender area of the Tiguan. PBSO says the motorcycle rider then struck the right side of the Tiguan’s windshield, was thrown from the motorcycle, and hit the roadway. The Tiguan was brought to a controlled stop in the inside lane, while the motorcycle slid along the roadway and came to an uncontrolled rest against the curb north of the outside lane of Hypoluxo Road.

The motorcycle rider, identified by PBSO as 26-year-old Stanley Jacques, was taken from the scene to St. Mary’s Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver of the Tiguan, identified by investigators as 36-year-old Biao Yang, was not reported injured.

The crash remains under investigation by PBSO Traffic Division.

UPDATE: The motorcyclist seriously injured in this crash has now been charged in connection with the incident, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on two dirt bikes near Hypoluxo Road and San Castle Boulevard when both riders accelerated in an attempt to flee. One of the riders, later identified as Stanley Jacques, was located moments later but allegedly fled again when deputies attempted to detain him.

According to PBSO, Jacques then ran a stop sign, entered Hypoluxo Road, and collided with a Volkswagen Tiguan, leading to the crash described above.

Deputies reported Jacques was unconscious but breathing after the crash and was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center with serious injuries.

Based on the investigation, Jacques has been charged with fleeing and eluding law enforcement, obstruction without violence, and failure to register a motor vehicle.

Jacques remains in the hospital at this time.

UPDATE 4/27/2026: The motorcyclist injured in this crash has died, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

PBSO said Stanley Jacques was pronounced dead on April 24 at approximately 4:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Investigators had previously reported Jacques was transported from the scene with serious injuries following the April 9 collision at Hypoluxo Road and Sea Pines Way.

The crash remains under investigation by the PBSO Traffic Division.
