WELLINGTON, FL (Boca Post) —Two men who were involved in a confrontation with a mother of the rival team were later arrested on multiple charges just as the game was ending.

According to Police Officers with the Palm Beach County School District, officers were investigating a confrontation between rival parents at a middle school basketball game when the situation escalated. Police were pointed in the direction of 19-year-old Juan Sampson of Boca Raton and 23-year-old Michael Sampson of West Palm Beach who witnesses say was being confrontational with a female parent of the rival team.

Officers say that as the basketball game between Emerald Cove Middle School and Woodlands was ending, officers attempted to escort Michael out of the gymnasium discretely. Officers say that immediate family members then began to get involved. The officer then requested backup.

At that time all parties were moved to the ECMS courtyard where Michael began to yell at the officers, saying “What the (explicative) are you going to do!!”. Officers started to affect the arrest of Michael when Juan then interfered. Both men were taken into custody with some force.

The family of the Samspon brothers tells Boca Post that they were defending their 12-year-old sister from an adult female in the stands. Further, the family alleges that the brothers were abused by the School Police.

Both Michael and Juan Sampson were arrested and face the following charges:

  • DISTURBING PEACE – INTERFERE WITH SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION FUNCTION
  • DISORDERLY CONDUCT – BRAWLING FIGHTING CORRUPT PUBLIC MORAL DECENCY
  • RESIST OFFICER – OBSTRUCT WO VIOLENCE
  • BATTERY – ON OFFICER FIREFIGHTER EMT ETC
