Two Killed In Delray Beach After Suv Struck By Train
UPDATE
The Delray Beach Police Department has released the following update:
The Delray Beach Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a February 8th fatal crash involving a vehicle and Brightline Train. Witnesses stated they saw a Nissan Rogue stopped on the easternmost track, with the safety arms down, as a northbound freight train passed them on the western track without making contact. The car’s driver and passenger remained in their SUV as a southbound Brightline train approached the intersection seconds later, striking the vehicle. The couple was pronounced deceased on the scene. There is no evidence that alcohol played a factor in the crash.
The National Traffic Safety Board (NTSB) is working on a parallel investigation with Delray Beach Police Traffic Homicide Investigators. Anyone who saw the crash or has any relevant information is asked to contact DBPD traffic homicide investigator Jesus Tabares at (561) 243-7800.
