PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2022) — The Palm Beach County School District announces that the board failed to properly vote for the board’s chair and vice chair which now requires a redo.
According to the Palm Beach County School District, the School District has determined that Tuesday’s election of the School Board Chair and Vice Chair must be redone on November 30, 2022. While Frank Barbieri and Karen Brill did each receive a majority of the votes for Chair and Vice Chair, respectively, the policy requires 4 votes or more of the seven-member Board.
This is after the district announced that they have re-elected Frank A. Barbieri, Jr., Esq. as the School Board Chair and Karen Brill as the Board Vice Chair.
According to PBCSD, the vote was held Tuesday during a Special Meeting of the School Board pursuant to Florida Statute 1001.371.
Board members will determine committee assignments during the November 30 Special Meeting, which also includes the Ceremonial Swearing-in of newly elected District 7 Board Member, Edwin Ferguson, and recently re-elected incumbents, Erica Whitfield, who represents District 4, and Vice Chair, Karen Brill, who represents District 3.
