Man Struck By Tri-Rail Train In Oakland Park

According to the train engineer, the pedestrian crouched down in a fetal position on the tracks as the train approached. Following the impact, the engineer immediately stopped the train and contacted emergency services.

The pedestrian has only been identified as an adult male by the Broward Sheriff’s Office as the department is still attempting to contact the victim’s next of kin.

OAKLAND PARK, FL (Boca Post) — An individual was struck and killed by a Tri-Rail train early on Tuesday morning.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that just after 5 AM on Tuesday, November 1st, 2022, deputies responded to the area of West Prospect Road and Northwest Ninth Avenue in Oakland Park in reference to a train versus pedestrian accident.

Shortly after 5 a.m., Broward Regional Communications received a call regarding a crash involving a Tri-Rail train and a pedestrian in the area of West Prospect Road and Northwest Ninth Avenue in Oakland Park. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to the area. On scene, deputies located an individual who had been struck by the train.

The individual was pronounced deceased on the scene. BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene investigators are on the scene investigating the circumstances of the incident.
