WEST PALM BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2025) — The community of families, nature enthusiasts, and local science fans will converge on Flagler Drive this Saturday to experience LagoonFest 2025 in downtown West Palm Beach. The event takes place from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. and visitors can attend without paying any admission fees.

LagoonFest celebrates those ongoing restoration efforts while inviting the community to experience the lagoon’s beauty firsthand. The event provides interactive exhibits together with wildlife encounters and educational activities which aim to promote environmental stewardship for people of all ages.

The North Dock will host the Aqua Adventure Boat Tour which provides free scientist-led boat tours throughout the day to show visitors the lagoon’s historical background and its current restoration progress. At the South Dock, the Hakuna Matata Catamaran Tour, sponsored by Visit Palm Beach, provides a 45-minute guided eco-cruise led by marine scientists. The event requires $10 admission fees for adult visitors but children under 12 and students with school ID can enter for free. Registration is available at visitpalmbeach.com/lagoonfest.

The Kids Zone area which Marine Industries Association supports will provide families with unlimited free entertainment through face painting and crafts and fishing games and lawn activities. The event allows children to encounter their beloved mascots while watching the Palm Beach Lakes High School Marching Band Parade at 11:15 a.m. and experiencing native wildlife encounters.

Educational exhibits from organizations like the Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, Loggerhead Marinelife Center, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and Marine Megafauna Foundation will line the waterfront. The event features a 12:30 p.m. live bird release of rehabilitated birds together with sea turtle VR experiences and research demonstration stations. Visitors can also take free sailing lessons with the Palm Beach Sailing Club, meet “Hope” the inflatable manatee, and learn how to help protect local ecosystems.

The West Palm Beach GreenMarket will operate nearby to provide attendees with fresh produce and local foods and seasonal treats during the festival.

The annual LagoonFest event has evolved into a major environmental celebration of The Palm Beaches because it combines scientific education with community activities and family-friendly entertainment to promote their valuable natural asset.

More About The Lake Worth Lagoon

Stretching 20 miles from North Palm Beach to Boynton Beach, the Lake Worth Lagoon is Palm Beach County’s largest estuary and one of South Florida’s most ecologically significant waterways. According to Palm Beach County Environmental Resources Management (ERM), the lagoon connects directly to the Atlantic Ocean through the Lake Worth and South Lake Worth inlets, providing vital habitat for fish, birds, and other wildlife while supporting recreation, navigation, and coastal resilience. The past twenty years have seen restoration efforts establish new mangrove islands and seagrass meadows and oyster reefs which work to enhance water quality and establish equilibrium in this urban estuary.
