Willie J. Smith, Jr. Named Dwyer High School Football Team Head Coach
PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — Dwyer High School named alum and former pro football player as new head coach.
William T. Dwyer High School Principal Corey Brooks has officially announced the appointment of Willie J. Smith, Jr. As the new head football coach. Coach Smith brings with him a wealth of experience, having played at both the collegiate and professional levels, as well as coaching at various high schools.
Coach Smith’s journey began at Dwyer High School in Palm Beach County, where he made a name for himself as an exceptional athlete. He then went on to become a four year starter for the Marshall University football team, earning well deserved All Conference honors. Following his college career, he played professionally in the Arena Football League from 2007 to 2009.
With over a decade of coaching experience under his belt, including roles as a graduate assistant at Marshall University and an assistant coach at James Clemens High School in Madison, AL., Coach Smith is more than ready to take on this new challenge. Most recently, he served as an assistant coach at the Benjamin School from 2020 to 2023.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Smith to our Dwyer Football program and family,” Principal Brooks said. “We look forward to his leadership and player development on and off the field.”
Principal Brooks expressed great enthusiasm about welcoming Coach Smith into the Dwyer Football program and family. The school is eagerly anticipating his leadership both on and off the field when it comes to player development.
In response to his appointment, Coach Smith shared his excitement about returning to his alma mater and taking on the role of head coach. He aims to foster a winning culture by establishing a strong foundation built upon trust, hard work and integrity.
