PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A man was killed after being struck by a car traveling at a high rate of speed in Palm Springs on Sunday evening. You won’t believe what the driver did next.
According to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Juan Luis Valladares was driving a Dodge Charger north on Military Trail, in the center lane, at a high rate of speed. At the same time, Ramon Alonso-Castellon was crossing Military Trail, walking from west to east, just north of the intersection with Forest Hill Blvd.
The front of the Charger struck Alonso-Castellon. Alonso-Castellon was propelled onto the hood and into the windshield. Alonso-Castellon then came to rest in the roadway.
Deputies say that Valladares fled the scene northbound. Alonso-Castellon was later pronounced deceased on the scene.
The vehicle was located, unoccupied, shortly after on Forest Lane just east of Military Trail. Valladares attempted to report the car stolen. During the investigation, Valladares admitted to being the driver during the crash and fleeing the scene.
Deputies indicated that charges are pending against Valladares, who they say was driving at a high rate of speed prior to the deadly crash.
