Shelton Reaves, 52, Passed Away

WEST PARK, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is currently looking into a collision that occurred between multiple vehicles and a pedestrian.

As per the investigation, around 8 p.m. On Thursday, March 28, reports came in to Broward County Regional Communications regarding an incident on South State Road 7 in West Park. Initial findings suggest that the pedestrian, identified as Shelton Reaves, was crossing the road westbound at a non designated area. Meanwhile, a 2010 Acura being driven by Jamar Morrison was heading northbound in the left lane. Reaves attempted to dash across the road to beat the traffic while Morrison tried to avoid hitting him upon noticing his actions. Unfortunately, Reaves ended up in the path of the Acura and was hit by its right front side before landing in another lane. Although Morrison and another passerby stopped to help, a second vehicle struck Reaves and drove off without stopping.

Emergency responders from Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and rushed Reaves to Memorial Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Authorities have ruled out excessive speed or impairment on Morrison’s part as contributing factors to the accident. It is believed that the second vehicle involved was a red Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
