BROWARD COUNTY, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2024) — Broward Crime Stoppers has upped the reward to $10,000 for any details that could help catch the perpetrator of 20 year Dru’Niyyia Griffins tragic death.
On Mothers Day 2022 in Broward County a family’s day took a turn when Dru’Niyyia was shot and critically wounded late at night on May 8th Sunday near Fort Lauderdale in unincorporated Central Broward along Northwest 15th Court block 2800. The regional communications center of Broward County received a distress call around 10;30 p.m. reporting a shooting incident. Upon arrival at the scene deputies from BSO found a woman, with gunshot injuries seated in a black Honda Accord. The victim was swiftly taken to Broward Health Medical Center for attention by Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue.
Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit (VCV) along with the Crime Scene Unit of BSO were called in to examine the scene and gather evidence, for analysis purposes. VCV officials mentioned that a man was taken to the hospital shortly after and received medical attention before being discharged.
Detectives mentioned that when they were parked outside the house of a friend they were visiting in her car with the male victim named Ttir’Daenya’ another vehicle passed by and fired several shots at their car before driving off quickly.It is suspected that the vehicle of the shooter might have been a SUV.
On the 7th of May in 2024s Tuesday morning after battling for her life at a long term care facility, for two years straight Dru Niyyia peacefully left this world behind.
