Broward Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim as 27-year-old Jacob Bresnahan of Lighthouse Point. According to investigators, Bresnahan drove around the railway safety arms in his 2015 Dodge Ram when he was struck by the oncoming Brightline train.

BOCA RATON, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — Broward Sheriff’s Office has responded to a train accident involving a vehicle in Pompano Beach this morning.

At approximately 5:39 a.m., Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a train versus vehicle crash near the intersection of Northwest Sixth Street and North Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue also responded, and the driver of the vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Due to the severity of the driver’s injuries, detectives with BSO Traffic Homicide Unit were notified and are investigating the circumstances surrounding this crash.
The northbound lanes of North Dixie Highway between Northwest Third Street and Northwest Sixth Street in Pompano Beach are closed until further notice. Motorists are asked to seek alternate routes. The investigation continues.
