Authorities from Broward Sheriffs Office Traffic Homicide Unit are looking into an incident involving a collision between a motorcycle and a semi truck in Pompano Beach yesterday afternoon. The crash occurred 3;52 p.m.on Tuesday March 18th,near North Powerline Roads 1900 block.Initial investigations at the scene indicated that Dajuanye Winters was traveling southbound on his 2019 Yamaha R3 motorcycle in the left, thru lane towards the same block. Alexis Rodriguez was heading north in a 2006 International Tractor with a 53’ Trailer when he made a turn towards a warehouse district through a gap in the median, on North Powerline Road and collided with a motorcyclist who tried to avoid the semi by aggressively applying the rear brakes of his Yamaha bike. The motorbike rider came to a stop to where the accident happened as the bike skidded along the road a bit further ahead of him. The investigators mentioned that after the collision occurred Rodriguez halted the semi truck and approached the motorcyclist who had fallen down. People, at the scene informed Rodriguez that emergency services had been called. Rodriguez shared with the authorities that he then inspected his truck and found no damage. Thinking he was not part of the accident Rodriguez proceeded to unload cargo at the dock and loaded up his trailer. During the process of investigation Rodriguez spotted some paint on the motorcycle that seemed to match the one, on the Yamaha belonging to the motorcyclist. The BSO deputies reached out to Rodriguez. He collaborated with the authorities in their inquiries. The investigation is still ongoing.
