Man Dies In Sheriff’S Custody, Fdle Investigating

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — The Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that a sexual assault suspect in their custody suffered a medical episode and died early Thursday morning.

Officials with BSO tell Boca Post that at approximately 1 a.m. on Thursday, September 8th, 2022, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies learned of a possible sexual assault near the 500 block of Northwest 27th Avenue in unincorporated Central Broward.

Deputies responded to investigate and located the subject involved near the intersection of Northwest 27th Avenue and Sistrunk Boulevard near Fort Lauderdale. According to BSO Homicide Unit detectives, the subject was taken into custody.

Later while in custody, the subject suffered a medical episode and became unresponsive. Deputies administered Narcan and initiated CPR. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue took over medical efforts and transported him to Broward Health Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the death.
