UPDATE
BSO says the woman struck and killed by a car in Lauderdale Lakes has still yet to be identified.
According to investigators, they haven’t been able to identify the pedestrian so far. Detectives are hopeful that someone will recognize the woman in the sketch and come forward with any information they may have.
The detectives from BSO traffic homicide describe the pedestrian as an adult black woman. She is around 4 feet 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 80 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes and was seen wearing a necklace with a gold colored pendant and white stones.

LAUDERDALE LAKES, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A woman was crossing a street using the crosswalk when she was struck by a car and killed in Lauderdale Lakes on Wednesday morning.
The Traffic Homicide Unit of the Broward Sheriffs Office is currently investigating a collision that resulted in the death of a pedestrian on September 27th in Lauderdale Lakes.
After receiving notification around 6;20 a.m. detectives from the BSO Traffic Homicide Unit promptly arrived at the scene where a fatal accident occurred involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near the 3400 block of North State Road 7.
Initial findings from the on site investigation indicate that Josette Marie Avril was driving a 2023 Kia Soul heading southbound on North State Road 7 in the right lane. She was proceeding through the intersection at Northwest 34th Street. At the time the pedestrian was crossing North State Road 7 from east to west, south of the designated crosswalk at Northwest 34th Street.
Based on information provided by investigators it appears that within the right lane the Kia collided with and struck the pedestrian. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the incident. Pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. The driver of the Kia remained present. Fully cooperated with authorities conducting their investigation.
According to investigators initial assessment factors such as speed, mechanical malfunction or driver impairment are not believed to have contributed to this collision.
The investigation, into this incident is still ongoing.
