UPDATE: 1 Dead In Crash Near Fort Lauderdale Airport

An update was provided by Broward Sheriff’s Office:
Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a 26-year-old male early Monday morning.At approximately 3 a.m., Monday, Feb. 28. Jamarc Polynice was traveling southbound in a 2016 Honda Accord sedan on South Federal Highway approaching the tunnel which travels underneath the airport runways. Preliminary investigation revealed Polynice was traveling at an extremely high rate of speed when his vehicle entered into a yaw and began to rotate clockwise as it slid sideways over the pavement. The vehicle then traveled off the west side of the roadway through the concrete swale and struck a concrete wall head-on within the tunnel. Following the impact, the vehicle continued south along the concrete wall until coming to a final rest.BSO Airport District deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded, and Polynice was pronounced deceased on scene.Witnesses who observed the crash told detectives no other vehicles were involved in the incident.Detectives say that based on the physical evidence, excessive speed is suspected as the primary cause of the crash. The investigation continues.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Boca Post (BocaPost.com) — Broward Sheriff’s Office tells Boca Post that there was an early morning single-vehicle crash near Fort Lauderdale airport leaving 1 dead.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:06 am which caused a large BSO fire rescue and law enforcement response. The single-vehicle accident occurred near Griffin Road and South Federal Highway on the SE corner of the Fort Lauderdale International Airport.
The accident left the roadway closed for several hours but has since re-opened after BSO traffic homicide investigators have concluded their on-site investigation.
