Brandon Douglas Griffin Passed Away
DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (Boca Post) (Copyright © 2023) — A 35-year-old Pompano Beach man was struck by a car and killed in Deerfield Beach on Saturday.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, 35-year-old Brandon Douglas Griffin lost his life in a car accident that occurred in Deerfield Beach.
After 8;23 p.m. On Saturday September 23 detectives, from the Broward Sheriffs Office Traffic Homicide Unit promptly arrived at the scene of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near the 3700 block of Northeast Third Avenue in Deerfield Beach.
Initial investigations indicate that Samuel Gordon Vallon was driving a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta heading southbound on Northeast Third Avenue in the lane towards the 3700 block. Meanwhile an individual who was using a wheelchair was crossing Northeast Third Avenue from east to west south of a crosswalk.
Investigators state that the Jetta’s front bumper collided with the side of the wheelchair resulting in a T bone type collision. The impact caused the pedestrian to be thrown out of their wheelchair and onto the pavement. Both the vehicle and pedestrian ultimately stopped south of where the collision took place.
Emergency personnel, from North Lauderdale Fire Rescue swiftly. Transported the pedestrian to Broward Health North, where they were sadly pronounced deceased. The driver cooperated fully with authorities. Remained at the scene throughout their investigation.
At this point there is no evidence suggesting that driver impairment, mechanical failure or excessive speed played any role in this incident.
The investigation is still ongoing.
