DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — Cleveland Browns’ Defensive Tackle Malik McDowell is in Broward County Jail this morning after being arrested by Broward Sheriffs Office for allegedly exposing himself and then violently attacking a Sheriff’s Deputy.

According to a police report submitted by Broward Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was responding to call of a man running naked in the area of 40 fairway drive in Deerfield Beach. The responding deputy found Malik McDowell, 25, sitting on a curb near a school in the nude. McDowell, a Defensive Tackle for the Cleveland Browns, immediately became confrontational with the deputy and told him “Fuck You”.

McDowell allegedly charged the deputy and punched him in the face. The deputy expressed in his report that the punch immediately dazed him and caused substantial pain. McDowell then continued to punch the deputy as he rammed his body into him. Eventually, McDowell fled on foot. The deputy pursued and deployed his Taser which caused McDowell to go down. The deputy then handcuffed McDowell without further incident.

The deputy reports that he has sustained serious injuries and was not even able to walk without assistance immediately following the attack.

McDowell is currently in custody of BSO jail with bond set at $27,000.

Malik McDowell is facing the following charges:

  • 784.07-2d – AGGRAVATED BATTERY ON OFFICER, FIREFIGHTR, EMT ETC
  • 843.01 – RESIST OFFICER-OBSTRUCT WITH VIOLENCE
  • 800.03- EXPOSE SEX ORGANS IN PUBLIC
