69 Year Old Woman Killed While Walking In Deerfield Beach

Woman Was Crossing South Federal Highway When She Was Hit And Killed By A Pickup Truck

DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (Boca Post) — Janet Thornbloom, 69, of Deerfield Beach, was hit by a truck and killed while crossing Federal Highway on Wednesday night.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:30PM on Wednesday night (1/26/22) near the 500 block of South Federal Highway in Deerfield Beach, FL.

According to Broward Sheriffs Office, Thornbloom was crossing Federal Highway on foot when she was struck by a 2021 GMC Sierra. BSO reports that the Thornbloom was not walking within a designated crosswalk when the accident occurred.

Raymond Uppstrom, the 70 year old driver of the pickup truck, stopped and remained at the scene after the accident occurred.

BSO Fire Rescue responded and pronounced Thornbloom deceased at the scene.

BSO is reporting that at this time speed nor impairment are being considered as contributing factors to this accident. However, the department adds, the investigation is ongoing.
